Why Consume Dried Flower Products?

Dried flower is the most versatile cannabis product you can purchase and the most popular product category in Canada. Cannabis flower can be consumed in two ways, inhalation and infusing to ingest. Concentrates, topicals, and other cannabis formats all stem from cannabis flower at some point. Dried flower also has the most available accessories and hardware for consumption. With so many strains, brands, and cannabinoid types available, it’s okay not to know where to start or how to find the right product for you.

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned cannabis connoisseur, the cannabis experience can be enhanced by trial and error with different formats of cannabis. Of course, for most cannabis consumers, dried flower is the best choice to begin with. However, understanding the different types of cannabis can help you discover which ones may be the best for you and which may not be the best for your tolerance level

Handling flower can also teach you about the quality of the product you have chosen. Dried flower consumers tend to have a higher appreciation for the plant because they can visually and physically see its characteristics. In addition, you can experience cannabis flavor, aroma, and composition, in its purest form.

Inhalation

The traditional way to consume dried flowers is by rolling them into a joint or blunt, but there are plenty of other options, such as bongs and pipes. At all Prairie Cannabis locations, you can find various hardware products and accessories to help you consume your dried flower cannabis.

Dried flower is an excellent choice for visually appreciating your cannabis product. However, this can harm your lungs and throat, so vaporizing is a more conscious option because it produces less smoke than combustion. In addition, vaporizers are discrete, easy to travel with, and a long-term solution to your cannabis consumption needs. Many vaporizers have built-in temperature settings and are easy to use. They also allow you to gauge the amount of cannabis you consume more accurately than that of joints and bongs.

Ingestion

The other way to consume dried flower is through ingestions, or more commonly known, edibles. This is a more conscious way of consuming cannabis because it does not involve combustion like smoking does, but it takes longer for you to feel the effects of edibles than smoking or vaping would take. To create DIY edibles, you need to purchase 3.5 grams or more. In simplicity, the method to infuse is as follows:

  1. Decarb your cannabis

You will need to heat your cannabis to 245 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 30 minutes. “Decarbing” cannabis, or decarboxylation, is a process where raw cannabis (THCA) is converted into active cannabis (THC).

  1. Infuse your cannabis

Choose a base or carrier like olive oil or butter. Next, you will need to mix your decarbed flower with the infusion base and heat the mixture between 160-200 degrees Fahrenheit for up to 3 hours.
